Goings-on at Coalhouse Fort

Throughout October 2026, we held open the Fort gate for a series of small activities and events for public and for groups. 

 

We are also welcoming a limited number of group visits in Spring / Summer 2026. If you run a group who would like to visit the Fort, please get in touch.

All activities were / are free.

Public goings-on at Coalhouse Fort 

Sunday 05th October 2025 - Photography Afternoon in association with Thurrock Camera Club.

 

Thursday 09th October 2025 - “The Lighting Passage”. Writers day in collaboration with Thurrock Libraries. 

 

Tuesday 14th October 2025 - “Interlocking Fire I”. Artists' Visit. 

 

Wednesday 15th October 2025 - Thurrock Writers Circle Launch by Thurrock Libraries

 

Saturday 18th October 2025 - "Haunt Coalhouse Fort". Halloween Costume photography with Alan Hockett and Kate Sullivan, and Level(ish) access tours.

 

Sunday 19th October 2025 - Level(ish) access activities and tours.

 

Wednesday 22nd October 2025 - Story Sharing at Coalhouse Fort.

 

Thursday 23rd October 2025 - “Interlocking Fire II” Artists Day, in collaboration with the Palmerston Forts Society. 

 

Wednesday 29th October 2025 -  Level(ish) access tours.
