Access information is here: https://www.lhtrevail.com/chf-access. If the weather is dry, this is a level(ish) access activity, with photographs being taken on the Parade ground, which is flat but uneven ground. In heavy rain, we will have to move to the indoor spaces, which can only be accessed by a flight of uneven stairs. If this would make the activity inaccessible for you, please get in touch and Artist Laura Trevail will arrange to come to you at ground level to take your photos with an alternative experimental camera of your choice (FLIR thermal imaging, Infrared SSTV, thermal printing, Loreo Stereo, inspection camera etc).

Important info for protecting the site is here: https://www.lhtrevail.com/chf-safety-protectionBy attending this activity, we are committing to this proactive care, and to following instructions for safety, heritage and ecology protections.

This activity forms part of Laura’s commission at Coalhouse Fort

“Fortified in times of threat, neglected in times of safety, surprisingly responsive to change and opportunity, the history of Coalhouse Fort speaks strongly to challenges facing us all right now. There’s a tenacity, a stubborn-ness to the place, combined with broad and expansive strategic views. A much-needed hope, even in the cracked and dampening stone.”

This work is made possible through a co-commission from Start Thurrock and Essex Cultural Diversity Project supported by Arts Council England
